PINOCCHIO 2019 – Family Series
Friday, November 22 (7 p.m.) and Saturday, November 23 (2 p.m.)

Family Series: Pinocchio. Nov. 22 and 23 at Opera Central. Utilizing music from Mozart, Offenbach, Verdi and Donizetti – with easily-understood lyrics in English — John Davies’ one-hour adaptation of “Pinocchio” is the ideal introduction to opera for young people. A fast-moving showcase of operatic storytelling, kid-style, it’s a colorful, fun-filled re-telling of the beloved tale of a wooden puppet who learns, through a series of misadventures, that lying does not pay. 55 minutes, with live orchestra. Suitable for all ages.

Education is key.

This year, in conjunction with Pinellas County Schools Elevate A.R.T.S. program, more than 700 third-graders will be bussed to Opera Central for special mid-morning performances of Pinocchio. The performing arts enrich children’s lives in ways that we may never fully understand. At St. Petersburg Opera Company, we believe that introducing youngsters to our unique form of musical storytelling not only entertains them, it piques their creative curiosity and plants seeds that will grow the next generation of opera fans.  To discover more about our exciting educational opportunities click here.
